Official forums can be funny!

So I was just reading a bit on the official forums today, actually trying to find any thread or news about why the hell armory never works, when I stumble upon a thread started by a mage.

She's (probably a sweaty he who hasn't showered in 3 days, but we'll call him she since his avatar is a she) was complaining how Shadowstep (41 point talent) makes your opponent loose target when activated and Blink (Trainable spell, available to all at lvl 20) does not.

So flaming and stuffs ensue. Of course. But the part that made me smile comes here;

Some rogue: You do realize breaking LoS on a long spellcast != dropping target, right? If you are spec'd frost, you should still be able to kite a rogue w/15 second blink cooldown. If not, you fail, not the devs. Plenty of mages do it and do it well.

Stupid mage: Newsflash! Not all mages play cheez-mode shatter combos all day long. We have 2 other talent trees last time I checked.

Some other guy: Newsflash, rogues have two other talent trees too!

Stupid mage again: Further newsflash! Rogues don't need those two other trees when one-size God-mode tree fits all!

Same some other guy: You mean like Frost?

Bwahaha, made me crack up!

Now, I don't know if Shadowstep ACTUALLY makes you drop target, but that's beside the point :P

Hunter Feign Death used to make them drop you as a target... that was nice... it would always fool people in battlegrounds who though you were really dead (lol)

That caught me out. I thought I'd killed the bastard and then he got up and shot me full of holes. You only make that mistake once.

hmm, like all other bits - wouldn't it register on the combat text? "[hunter] casts Feign Death", quickly followed by "[hunter] gains Feign Death". then again, considering how bloomin' fast combat text usually scrolls past - it'd be a titch tricky to catch that cast, especially if your dots are busy tickin' down. ;)

Hunter Feign death used to show your health bar going to zero as well.

And in a battleground... it goes crazy.

hehe, i'd never really paid much attention to it when i've cast it - but it has caused my head to spin around when peeps pop it outside of IF AH/Bank spot.

haven't braved a battleground...yet. (I R CHICKEN, i'll admit it)
off-handedly, you wouldn't happen to have heard of an add-on called stinkyque, have ya?

PUAAAK PAAK PAAK! You've got a level 70 and however many and you haven't been in a battleground?!?! No Pip. No no no.

*cough* well, hrm, done wsg with hordie Dare and m'bro when we were rompin' about kellogs - that was forever (level 19) ago.

But, yeah, don't think i've ever done it on VeCo - least ways not that i can remember. -However-, remember my post about the multi-boxer on VeCo? Hehe. Apparently there's 3 of 'em, each running the pally/shaman bit. Short of the long of it - the mb'er that i've been gettin' to know has sorta/kinda convinced me to give BGs a go. Strength in numbers, isn't that the phrase? :D

I like your avatar, bytherway. It's somewhere inbetween train wreck, chicks snogging and watching two midgets wrestle. A bit can't look away and a bit /lol.

:D
it cracks me up, i call it "elekk hopping"

P.S. As I understand it a Shockadin is a Holy Shock based +damage based Paladin build.

Yes - you can do it as a holy or prot pally spec, just use +spelldamage gear is the cheap way - my wife had a set of +700 total spelldmg plate for farming and used Bloodmaw Magus-Blade as her shockadin (and tanking) weapon

I hit the official forums periodically. Some decent info there if you can weed through all the BS. Little nuggets like these are gold.

Haha nice. The problem is, rogues don't allow themselves to be kited anymore...as soon as they realize they are, they back off and re-stealth, wait for their CDs to be done...then pewpew. And you really can't survive a rogue for very long...even if you geta blink off, your just gonna be blinded until the rogue catches up.

Kiteable classes either learn to not allow themselves to be kited early or... well... die a lot.

With my prot pally, I've been impressed with my ability to find little corners and nooks and crannies to hide in/draw ranged classes near to me in the environment. I've stretched what would have been 30 second losses into 5 minute fights running around pillars, trees, ruins, and nearby buildings. I may not always win (it's not like I have any dps - just lots of defense and hp), sometimes they run, sometimes they get me - but I make them work for that kill. I refuse to be kited.

Yeah, I dunno, I haven't played my rogue very much the last ... two years. He's sitting in HFP at lvl 61 still.

And the highest I've played a mage is 39 :P

Excellent comment though :P "Like frost?"
