This is more of a "hey who plays this" than an announcement, but Steam is offering a 66% off all Total War games. I bought the Total War base game awhile back at the recommendation of a coworker. It was... it was... good? I only played it for a little bit but I saw the potential to being a very damn good game.
So, anybody play this? WTB review!

Played Rome and Medieval II. Pretty fine games overall, but I reckon it takes a certain mindset to really enjoy them. Personally, I prefer Civilization for long epic games and I prefer Warcraft/Starcraft for quick micromanagement battles. Total War tries to build on both concepts, so you end up with a superficial turn-based game with some stiff and repetitive real-time battles. It works decently, but it's not the most successful mix I've seen.
I played the original one (Japan?) and loved it to bits, although the campaign mode was a bit weak.
