so, Jingster and I are going for the insane title. One of the requirements is exalted with the rogue faction, Ravenholdt.
After spamming trade for a few days and trying to convince rogues to gather the heavy junkboxes you need - 1,440 of them - we decided to level a rogue each.
Jingster proved to have less ADHD than me, and her rogue is at 67 and she's already collected 400 of hers, I'm still at level 54.
But I must say I enjoy playing the rogue - it really does have the weirdest toolkit of handy abilities, especially as an engineer - i'm looking forward to some of the higher level engineering stuff, including the rocket boots and glove rocket launchers.
I've been messing with my spec a lot, but a full combat spec seems to work well for me for leveling...

How long ago did you start this Rogue?!?
the /played is 2d 18 hours... a few weeks ago...
Leveling my rogue to 60 was great... I did that pre-tbc. Once TBC hit the massive jump in health and damage output of mobs made the melee quite difficult to deal with. Granted, I was still using my Sword of Omen and a Thrash Blade. Once I replaced both those and grabbed a few pieces of outlands "Of the Monkey" or whatever it was, I got back to killing relatively easily.
Getting closer to 70 I specd into the pvp build Obscurity recommended (Subtlety) and that was a -load- of fun. PVP'ing with them was great... a full stun lock for the entire health of the other player took perfect timing and a bit of sheer luck.
Good luck with the insane title... I do not envy your attempt at that!
so i've been using daggers - do you recommend swords?
Whatever has the higher top end damage (no dps) in your mh and whatever is quick in the off hand. Generally swords have higher top end than daggers. Of course you are running with heirlooms which I am sure are better than most other options (sans possibly the heirloom sword).
To be honest though, I haven't played Mandoric since TBC and I am beginning to get LotRO Burglar and WoW Rogue mixed up in my head.
Spec into Sub when you can get Shadowstep. It probably isn't as viable of a leveling skill, but god damn is it fun. And you can run a full stun lock on anybody through that tree... iirc there is a 0.5 second lapse between two stuns (assuming no pvp trink or other escape mechanism) in an entire 150 second stun lock.
I've got both the heirloom swords and both the heirloom daggers... lol... so i will probably MH sword and OH dagger.
I've respecced to a combat / assassination to get more poisons applied, the sword does basically double top end damage.
Problem is that any special ability that you have, requires daggers. I'm going to have to macro a switch MH or something
Yea, I used to use a macro to switch them out so I could ambush open then switch to sword mh. Unfortunately that costs a gcd so you have to decide if it is worth it or not. After I started getting better gear I found the time wasted stealthing wasn't worth it and just started running in.
My first 70 in TBC was a combat swords rogue. I've not been able to pick them up with any real affection since. I have a lowbie rogue that I enjoy PvP with, but at 35 I've gotten bored. My 70 rogue never made it to 72 in northrend. Every time I tried to play him I could only get about 30 minutes in before my mind started wandering.
Combat was really awesome for leveling. There's tons of utility in them for controlling the fight and avoiding damage. My only gripe kinda goes with what you said, I started to feel like I was playing a squishy warrior after a while, because stealth was largely a waste of time. I think I still have my krol blade in the bank though. That thing looked cool.
I've gone the mutilate path, with two daggers... killing speed is very much good enough, once you get enough talent points.
