I blame Stigg

And I blame Stigg quite simply because we could only mention our one favourite game. But this one crept up on me in the night! Decided I didn't want to post an topic now dead and buried (ie. off the front page), so I made a new one to put this old, but awesome, game under your attention again.

I am talking of course about Star Control 2. I spent more time in that game (and loving it, to boot) than pretty much any other thing I played. There's an actual storyline. That actually makes sense after you unravel the plot. You will make friends with new and exciting races (and be called 'hunam'...). It involved diplomacy, some adventure-game-type-going-forward-in-storyline and of course some battle. And, well, lots more.

Apparently, though I haven't tried it myself, there's actually a port for PCs.

So, here I was wondering - has anyone ever played it? Am I the only lunatic raving on about this game? Does anyone have any other such games where they still remember quotes years later?

Quote:
Surprise and Terror!
I am greeted by the smooth and hostile face of our old enemy, the Hootmans
no... the Huge-glands, no, I remember, the Hunams!

I played that when it first came out - loved it... i thought it was always on PC

Well ye, but going from (I think) a 386 to what we have now makes the game unplayable as it just speeds up to your processor's power. The port I mentioned circumvents that.

ahhhh will give it a shot :D

Your game reminds me of: Planet's Edge, similarly you had to manuever you vessel thru star systems, could get attacked by others, and then land on an alien planet to achieve/finish a mission.
