And thus, in the sun dappled glades of Brandywine and amidst it's grass-clad hills, a group of stout adventurers have gathered at the feet of their leader, the bold Pipkin. To the scent of wildflowers and honeyed mead and the freshly grown pipeweed that Semunia so kindly shared they spoke and argued for many days as they strove to find a name that suits their Kinship. And to this day their name remains a mystery, hidden and shrouded from the Dark Lords' eye. In names lies power and with power comes control - Illowen of Mirkwood
(daubs quill) Yes, yes. That will do nicely. Suitably grave. Emminent. The work of a true scholar, if I say so much. Why, Gandalf himself would be proud of my efforts!
For our own reference, I thought I would put toghether a list of who is who in what will hopefully be our Kinship on Brandywine. So - the list as I know it now:
| Corinthe | Raimere | Elven Ministrel | Explorer |
| Katyana | Nickster | Elven Champion | |
| Pipkin | Pipkin | Hobbit Guardian | Armorer |
| Pippit | Pipkin | Hobbit Minstrel | Woodsman |
| Semunia | Stigg | Human Burglar | Yeoman |
| Simonia | Stigg | Elven Minstrel | Tinkerer |
| Nefiryn | Nefi | Elven Lore Master | ?????? |
| Aeyfweir | Nefi | Human Burglar | Armorer |
| Pipkin | Pipkin | Hobbit Guardian | Armorer |
| Fraden | Fraden | Dwarven Hunter | Woodsman |
| Fridan | Fraden | Human Captain | Armsman |
| Aelowen | Tanitha | Elven Loremaster | Scholar |
| Natombi | Tanitha | Human Captain | Armorsmith |
| Illowen | Tanitha (Main) | Elven Hunter | Woodsman |
| Illinore | Tanitha | Human Champion | Explorer |
As you roll your characters post them in the comments and Stigg or myself will keep the Kinship list updated. Add people to your friends list as well so those who are trialing have the option to whisper and actually communicate. And perhaps, to aid in finding an appropriate name, we can make use of this.
I'm going for a Dwarf Hunter Woodsman
If we're on the same server
Nickster - Katyana - Elven* champion. Fixed :P
Should we add approximate levels in there as well?
Pipkin (of the Stoors) - (current) level 8 vocation: armourer (metalworking, prospecting, tailor)
Pippit (of the Fallohides) - (current) level 6 vocation: woodsman (farming, forester, woodworker)
Not sure if I mentioned this, I know I did to Stigg, but y'all -can-, if you wish to do so, make a surname for your character and even go so far as to adopt other players as your kin.
I've always wanted to adopt a midget ;-P
I just realized, by all appearances - no one else wants to be short. *le sigh* Guess that means I'll be the only Shirriff! Woot! buah-haha
Well I'm a dorf, so im kinda small
Ok, might change mine to Armsman, only because we have 1 woodworker already
No, no, no!!
Stay with what you chose, really.
I chose woodworker because you can never have enough people around to treat the hides a tailor needs. Please, don't let my choice of vocation shift your decision for how you want to play your characters.
Suppose I could stay with it, I just thought it would be better if we all had a different vocation for each char, so we can help each other
With what all we've currently got going: you're fine and made a great choice (i think).
Woodsman can be pretty self-suficient: you can farm (and then sell crops to cooks or peddle beer/pipe-weed)
Forester is you trackin' wood and then choppin' up lumber from the natural resource.
Woodworker crafts wooden weaponry (and campfire kits, which despite the static campfires located throughout the world, there's alwyas -always- need of a campfire - it adds a kind of buff when out in the wild or even in PvMP). You can make staves, bows and even instruments much later on.
Once you've got a name and so on, let me know what profession you've chosen. If you're playing a Hunter that might not be too bad a combination. You get the Woodworker bit for bows and the Weaponsmith bit for swords, etc. and you can prospect your own ore. Plus our Woodsman and Explorers can supply the necessary lumber.
I might have convinced Gavriel to roll a Dwarf as well. Either a Ministrel or a Guardian. I'll see what he has done a bit later!
Did you mean arms or wood?
I was thinking Arms, however Pipkin made a very fine argument in favour of a Woodsman. And it ties in with the Hunter living off the land concept as well. So I'm taking a big step back with my opinion on this one.
For Armsman, me personally, I was trying that vocation out on my Burg (that's on Meneldor) with the thought train of: hey, i can make my own dagger (and the Polished Gondorian Dagger had a nice sound to it).
For a hunter to use Armsman, they'd need a steady influx of wood to supplement their profession for the bows and what-not; however, Weaponsmithing (another of their professions) also has the availability of (no laughing here) making a better bear trap. Or, in another case, a multi-trap - which is a great thing as well.
I just want to make weed ^_^
So you can make your weed and smoke it too?
Yes ma'am, you can smoke it if you grow it. :)
for a generic smoke effect: /smoke
to smoke your pipe-weed: right-click on a pouch of your finest harvest. (and then wait to see if you crafted a nifty smoke ring or not - yes, they make shapes: ask Stigg)
*chuckle* apparently seems y'all are pipe-heads. ;)
Alright then, you - here's some vocations for you to mull over to sate your pipe-weed fixations upon:
Yeoman - can Farm, and also features Cooking as well as Tailoring (which, as a champ, you'll not need at all)
Woodsman - can Farm, and features Forester and Woodworking.
Historian - again, can Farm, plus is a Scholar and Weaponsmith (weaponsmith would be good for a Champ - make your own swords...and cut things down with it while they flip you off as you run away)
Hmmmm...so then i'm thinking historian then
Very nice.
Your Farm profession takes care of itself (poor crops you can turn into seeds, and then turn around to plant them again with more fertilizer and water) - self-propelled crafting that.
Scholars are a tricky lot, really, and the only ones to make dye as well as lore items (buffs) for peeps. The trick is to find ruins and scout around for your mats (aged scraps of text, relics, letters, runes, etc).
Weaponsmithing - you'll need ore and lots of it and since I'm an Armourer (which features prospecting) and Ramiere has Explorer (which also features prosp) we should be able to supply you nicely with what you'll need for weapon crafting.
W00t! i make weapons for us all my little midget friend! :D /pat /hug /squeeze cheeks xD
y'know, before that comment i -was- going to make you armor to protect your spindly elven legs. now, i ain't so sure. :P
